Mentoring is vital to your career growth! The person in receipt of mentorship may be referred to as a protégé (male), a protégée (female), an apprentice or, in recent years, a mentee. However, true mentoring is more than just answering occasional questions or providing ad hoc help. It is about an ongoing sense of learning, dialog, and challenge so we want to help our stars even more, please find our willing Mentors who will help you grow in your path to greatness. All you have to do is click on the link of the Mentor you like and we will arrange for you to meet up with them, and best of all it's all free of charge!

Time is limited for our Mentor stars, so we will try our very best to get you in front of them so bear with us. But remember you can always rely on us to talk to you whenever you like :)

Robin Garms
Creative Director

Robin Garms

Robin Garms trained as a graphic designer at Saint Martins School of Art in a time before the internet. He became involved in interactive design and then web design before becoming Creative Director of Tribal DDB where his concept and copywriting won D&AD silver for Volkswagen. He then moved to Publicis Dialog and Pubicis Modem where he continued to win awards for creatvity and efffectiveness for Hewlett Packard, The British Army and Renault.

He specialises in recruiting and nurturing creative teams at all levels and many of his proteges are now leading creative lights in their own right.

At Chemistry he built another very successful creative team before they too were bought by Publicis. He has recently branched out into TV, with a stint at Sky's in-house creative agency, and branding, with 6 months spent at Pajama Consulting. Last July he went back to Publicis Chemistry to help them win 4 pitches in 4 weeks.

His creative writing and opinion pieces are showcased on his blog at http://www.staroftheeast.wordpress.com which is named after the former pub in Shoreditch where he lives with his wife and 2 children, 2 dogs, 2 cats and a mother-in-law in the cellar.

Chris Thurling
Digital Strategy, Digital Marketing and Business Innovation Adviser

Chris Thurling

Back in 1995, when the internet was still in its infancy, Chris founded digital agency 3Sixty. The company grew, survived, even prospered during the.com bubble and became highly respected in its field with clients such as ITV, Renault F1, Deutsche Bahn and several UK airports.

After 17 years at the helm, Chris found he was doing less and less of what he really enjoys. And so in 2012 he decided to pass on the agency to his business partner and embark on new adventures.

What Chris now offers his clients is innovative thinking on all aspects of digital business strategy and marketing. Chris understands the tech speak but de-mystifies it all and communicates in English. He is personable, well connected and experienced in building and developing multidisciplinary teams.

Chris helped found the Institute of Practitioners in Advertising's (IPA) Digital Business Group, which he co-Chaired until Dec 2012. Chris was also a member of the IPA's behavioural economics taskforce and he retains a keen interest in the area.

Among other things, Chris is currently working on a project pioneering insights from ‘big data’ to improve commercial performance in the aviation sector and is helping develop a social CRM strategy for a client in the tourism industry.

Brian Hoadley
User Experience (UX) / Digital Product Design

Brian Hoadley

With a career that spans 25 years, beginning with the engineering and implementation of technology and evolving to intelligent product design, Brian has been an engineer, tech project manager, product designer and advisor, UX strategist and entrepreneur.

In 2004, at a time User Experience was still in its infancy in any formal sense, he founded and ran the highly successful digital product design agency, phunQube. He works from the tactical to the strategic end of UX.

He takes consulting and non-executive directorship roles that utilise his full range of Product design, start-up and enterprise level skills and experience. He works with clients from an early stage in their product development and helps them to translate vision into product roadmaps, MVP for launch, organise requirements, implement the right tracking solutions and manage design and delivery of their products.

Richard Lewis
Lead Design Manager - Design & User Experience

Richard Lewis

Richard is passionate about the opportunities design has to enhance people's lives around the world through digital technology. He has been working in digital design, user experience and service design since 1998 and has been involved in mobile UX for over 10 years.

At Grey Interactive he was part of the creative team designing web and interactive TV sites for Grey advertising clients. After a couple of years of agency life he became interested in the potential for mobile and joined Vizzavi in 2001, a Vodafone/Vivendi joint venture start up to help design the experience for a web/TV/mobile content portal. When Vodafone bought Vizzavi, Richard became part of the original Vodafone global UX team designing mobile interfaces for Vodafone services.

In 2005 Richard joined Orange as a lead design manager in the global user experience team, where he has been designing cross platform services for Orange customers worldwide and leading strategic innovation projects alongside marketing and R&D.

Julian Hubbard
Design Manager and User Interface Specialist

Julian Hubbard

Julian is a Senior and accomplished Design Manager and User Interface specialist with extensive experience in the Telecommunications sector with a passion for re-defining and challenging the norm.

He combines an exceptional background in design with meticulous attention to detail, self-motivation, enthusiasm and energy for the subject. He has a proven track record in senior roles reporting at CEO and VP levels and adept at building and leading multi-disciplinary teams to deliver world class products.

Julian describes his core competencies as keeping it simple, following sound user centred design processes, user requirements gathering, leading product strategy and direction, concept development, meticulous attention to detail, communication, leadership and enthusing those around him. He also prides himself on focussing on the people he works with by establishing close and personal relationships with them.

Alex Butler
Founder, KindredHQ.com

Alex Butler

Alex Butler is Founder of recently launched KindredHQ.com, a brand new start-up community of people who work freelance and independently.

Until 2010 she led the transformation of the UK Government’s approach to and use of digital. Responsible for the original service proposition for Directgov, the UK Government’s citizen website, she also established and ran a new digital delivery division, the forerunner of the UK’s Government Digital Service.

Her background is in marketing, from Saatchi and Saatchi and Interbrand, to large-scale brand marketing in large organisations, such as BT and Cable & Wireless.
